New York-based architecture studio Incorporated designed an elegantly modern loft named the Warren Apartment. The complexity of all design elements come alive under the studio’s attentive supervision – a stunning Franz West dining table thrones in the middle of the social zone, while the Butch table was placed adjacent to one of the large windows, near the Hex chair and ottoman. Pivot doors line the hallway, hiding storage and access to other zones of the loft. A white Corian kitchen peninsula separates the cooking zone from the rest of the open living space. White seemed to be the perfect background, allowing each furniture item to shine and offer its unique mark on the overall appearance. Ideally designed for relaxation in a delicately created environment, the bedroom’s details showcase a powerful love for furniture design. The green Wrong Wood Credenza captures all the attention and guides thoughts towards a natural surrounding right before falling asleep. Immersed in the Tropical Refuge of Koh Samui, Thailand: Headland Holiday Villa 3

Headland Holiday Villa 3 is part of a group of six alluring holiday homes immersed in the tropical haven of Koh Samui, Thailand. The houses were recently redesigned, in order to answer the comfort needs of the contemporary tourist, while preserving some of the initial traditional features. From limed hardwoods to thatched roofing, natural materials were employed throughout, minimizing the environmental impact. According to the owners’ description, “Villa no.3 is blessed with the widest frontage and sweeping views that never cease to amaze. From every room you can see clear to the distant islands and the horizon beyond. Wake in the mornings to the sounds of waves lapping on the shore below. Spend your days in peaceful luxury and as the light fades and the colors begin to change, finish off the day sipping drinks on the terrace with a backdrop of the most spectacular sunsets you are ever likely to see“- talk about a tantalizing description. The villa consists of two pavilions, one housing two bedrooms and the other accommodating the open plan living room. Enjoy the show!

Cubello Ice Kitchen by Amr Designs

Through studying and predicting its customers’ present & future kitchen habits and preferences, Egyptian kitchen manufacturer Amr Helmy Designs claims to be able to invent breakthrough organic design solutions. The company’s catch phrase is “7 Years Ahead”, which sums up its goal to fill a gap in the kitchen market by 2015 by offering improved functionality, taste and service. With the Cubello Series, Amr Helmy was aiming to revolutionize kitchen design by offering a range that is designed around a grid system based on just 24 different units and one size of door.

This approach top kitchen design has a number of benefits. The factory has a minimum number of components to work with so a number of costs are reduced including: warehousing; machine set-up; packing; and shipping. The grid system allegedly makes it easier for designers to work with and ensures that all design output is aesthetically maximized.

The most interesting design aspect of the Cubello kitchen though has to be the innovative configuration options provided by the island unit. Featuring the sink and the cooktop, the island unit provides the main work area within the kitchen. Surface space is maximised through the use of off-set counter tops and a swivelling surface that contains the kitchen sink. This surface is on wheels so it can easily be repositioned for best use of space.

Revitalizing Chilean Artisan Industry: Amalia By Studio Eggpicnic

Using mimbre (wicker) to create useful everyday objects has been a traditional occupation of dwellers in Chilean city of Chimbarongo since the beginning of the century. The growing local economy has seen a decrease when fewer people were interested in working with this lean material, so Santiago-based Studio Eggpicnic decided it was time to recreate a focal point on this small industry. Designing the Amalia seating unit, the creative studio feeds the need for continuing this beautiful tradition, but inspired craftsmen to look into a more contemporary outcome. The sinuous lines of this beautifully manufactured seat were created alongside experienced mimbre manufacturers in order to get a stunning result. Spotted on Inhabitat, the organic seat is moulded to offer a comfortable seating experience and features two rounded gaps on each side. Artisanal tradition was intertwined with modern design to create a constructive method of transposing this modern revitalization in a surprising seat design.
